I booked a hotel in the city for Wednesday night on Hotwire, turned out to be The Renwick, which I highly recommend. #winning
I arrived at The Renwick around 10am, check in was at 3pm. I was hanging on a prayer they would have a room ready so I could get myself together because my first show was at 1pm in Chelsea.
God is good and they had a room ready. They even informed me that breakfast was still being served if I wanted to grab something - don't mind if I do.
Maybe I'm the only person that does this, but every time I get to the city I just walk to the nearest (hotel) window and stare at the concrete jungle for a solid 10-20 mins. I can't explain it, but I love it so much.
My look for Day 1 - Who What Wear Bow Blouse, Raleigh Denim, Rebecca Minkoff booties, Tory Burch tote, and my quilted Barbour.
This is what those of us in the business call not enough clothes for New York in February.
There was no one in this room, and there were two other people who appeared to be bloggers standing outside. I started having a mild panic attack that all of my invitations were fake, which honestly would have made more sense to me than having actually been invited to NYFW, but I digress. I waited a few more minutes and a few more people started showing up, then a nice doorman came to let us know we were in the right place and the show would start in about 20 minutes. Whew, legitimate invitation.
As you can see the "runway" was yellow rope they have taped to the floor in a double circle pattern.
Also loving several things available to shop currently on their website.
Thank you Saunder for my first fashion show experience.
After the show, I braved the cold to do a little shopping at DVF, Alice + Olivia, and Chelsea Market.
When I could no longer take the cold I went back to the hotel to warm up. I eventually regained my strength, did a little more shopping in Times Square before a Sachin + Babi after party at The Rickey. I feel like this party would have been a lot more enjoyable if I wasn't running on 3 hrs of sleep and if I knew anyone. I met a designer and a few brand reps and hopped out of there at 8 to do some more, you guessed it, shopping.
Day 1 was in the books and little did I know Day 2 would be the coolest day of my life...
