I was pretty sure this weekend recap would be filled with pics from the wedding we were supposed to attend, but...this happened on Friday.
That's me watching Will & Grace at G's bedside. He woke up with major stomach pain which led us to the urgent care which then led us to this room at WakeMed North waiting for him to get a CT scan. I would like to note that we did watch ESPN for quite a while before I took control of the remote. It's called compromise.
The CT showed that he should probably get transferred to main WakeMed where he would receive a surgical consult. Here he is getting strapped in to take an expensive ride on 540. I couldn't ride in the back of the ambulance so I followed behind.
After consulting with the surgeon, we decided it was time for G's appendix to be removed. He went into surgery around 8pm and came out appendix free. Which lead me back to where I started...by his bedside watching my favorite TV shows from the late 90s/early 00s.
You will be happy to know he is rapidly recovering and appreciates all your thoughts and prayers!
He handled surgery like a champ and even took a stroll around the hospital the next morning wearing these sweet socks.
Hope everyone had a lovely 4th!
We kicked off the weekend visiting my oldest friend Megan, and her husband in Columbia, SC
They have a baby girl on the way and we can't wait to meet her!
We ate so much stuff including the best breakfast at Eggs Up, SC's best in my opinion.
After a late breakfast we headed to visit G's fam at Lake Murray. On the way we stopped for mozz sticks at Sonic. We thought we ordered 6, turns out we ordered 16. If you've ever wondered what the family size mozz sticks looks like, it's this.
We had a great time relaxing at the lake and soaking in some rays. We ended the 4th watching some awesome fireworks over the lake on the boat.
First we celebrated Jenny's bday with our dear friends!
Apologies for all of the iphone pics in this post. I forgot my big camera. oops. #bloggerprobs
Then we celebrated Father's Day!
My parents came to Raleigh and we took my dad bowling at Kings.
Needless to say mom and I should brush up on our bowling skillz and everyone should learn to spell my name. But we had fun!
This weekend we rode boats....
And we rode limos... #rideordie #ballin #alloftheface
But really, we had a great weekend in Wilmington with family and with friends celebrating the Penick's!
Y'all. What was that?
I've never been in any sort of Black Friday, Target collab situation and that was nuts.
I stayed up til like 2am trying to get stuff online with no luck. Shout out to Twitter for keeping me entertained.
First it was the mobile site, then the tweeted links, then the site live, then crashing. Nuts.
I woke up at 7am on Sunday and somehow managed to get the two things I had in my online cart.
We arrived at target around 7:45. I went to my hometown Target because I knew Raleigh would be madness. This was the situation when we got there.
This was G's situation when we got there.
If you've ever wondered what simultaneous love and hate looks like, wonder no more.
We decided to divide and conquer. I went straight for the clothes and G went straight to beauty and home.
The one thing I can say I actually needed from this was a makeup bag. Turns out our store didn't get them.
G was also tasked with coffee mugs and plates from the home section. He swiped one of two coffee mug sets and the plates and one of those giraffe bottle openers because why not?
I was simultaneously shopping for myself and a few personal shopping clients so that was fun. I pretty much just grabbed everything I could get my hands on and checked out. I debated waiting at the dressing room for put backs but ultimately decided at some point amongst the madness that I really didn't care.
You win again, Target.
Here's the loot I'm actually keeping.
I'm kind of in love with that crop top. I also ordered the crop in Boom Boom online so I'm super excited for that to get here. And the piece de resistance, the pineapple punch kimono so I can get my Megan Draper on.
Anybody else have a successful #pinksunday?
My parents came to town for Easter and we decided to have lunch at Fearrington after church. If you've never been to Fearrington Village and you live in the Triangle, you should definitely make a trip. It's a little venue in Pittsboro, NC. It feels like you're in a whole different world, especially this time of year when the flowers are starting to bloom. There are little shops and eateries and great scenery all around. Here are a few iPhone shots from the day, I'm kicking myself for not having my nice camera. Oops...next time.
I was kind of obsessed with this burlap dress in the Special Events planning room.
So pretty and relaxing.
These guys live inside a little shop called Dovecote. They sang a lot.
Family selfie because 2015.
Fearrington is also famous for their belted cows. Unfortunately they were all hanging out in the shade on our trip so I didn't snap any pics. But, go visit Fearrington and see them for yourself!
I finally got around to taking our Christmas tree down this week and it's always so sad. There's so much prep that goes into Christmas and it's over in like an hour. So I thought I would relive the magical moments on the blog today. I apologize for the lack of style, when I'm at home it's all about tshirts and no makeup.
Can I get an amen?
Every Christmas Eve since forever I bake my Tea Cakes for Santa from my great grandmother's recipe. I honestly don't care that much for the cookies but my grandfather LOVES them, so I keep making them. My grandparents always come over for cookies and coffee.
My mom loves props.
I love my grandparents.
The next morning, Santa came.
On Christmas morning my grandparents always come over to see what Santa brought me and my grandfather makes pancakes. They are the best. I should mention they live right down the street so it makes sense. Let's pretend like we aren't all wearing the same clothes as last night.
We gave my dad a new grill and this is his surprised/excited face.
My mom and I helped him put it together and it was actually quite enjoyable. All I can say about this photo is at least I'm wearing those skinny sweatpants. The rest is tragic.
And this outfit is going on fashion dads ASAP.
The rest of Christmas weekend was spent going back and forth between my fam and Player's fam. This is the only photo we have to show for it.
My birthday is 11 months from today, so basically Christmas is right around the corner.
So yesterday was my birthday and we had lots of fun celebrating over the weekend with family and friends. Creme brulee is my absolute favorite dessert, so after lots of googling menus after church we found one that would suffice at Coquette. This is me pretending to be french, wearing my new scarf, and thinking about life.
In addition to this lovely scarf, I received some other great gifts including the new Kate Spade coffee table book and FINALLY the proud owner of a Mazel shirt.
On my bday night Player and I went to Revolution in Durham because we're cool. We had the tasting menu which included grilled octopus and was delicious.
Here's to another year. Cheers.
As I mentioned last week we celebrated Player's b-day a few weekends ago. As part of his gift I arranged for us to go visit his best friend and his wife in Richmond. This was exciting because we don't get to see them that often, and because they have a new baby we had not met. yay babies! Leading up to this trip, Player discovered a new game sweeping the internet called Footgolf. If you aren't familiar, this game is played like golf and on a golf course, but with a soccer ball. Courses are popping up all over as a way for courses to recoup some revenue on unused courses or just places that aren't as popular as they once were. Player was thrilled to hear about this marriage of sports as he was a big soccer player back in the day, but didn't love the whole running part. And likes the pace and surroundings of golf, but not so great at it. This would give him an avenue to use his "semi-nuclear weapon of a right quadricept" to defeat the opposition. As it turns out, the new baby girl is the chillest baby I know, so we all went for a walk on the footgolf course.
Some major action happening on the course...and this is the sweetest baby not impressed.
So much bro'ing.
They ended up in a tie and are actively pursuing sponsorship to make the dream of professional footgolfer a reality.
We spent the rest of the weekend just catching up and staring at this, which is just amazing. Both that she sleeps so peacefully and that we know people who are old enough to care for another human.
If you follow me on Insta this post might be a little redundant. If you dont, shame on you, and you're welcome for this recap.
I've been busy celebrating birthdays, and cooking things, and buying things, and that's why I haven't had time to blog things. So here we go.
Then I wanted to buy this sweatshirt at H&M, but I showed restraint.
Then this happened.
I made this mussels and linguine because it was Thursday and I'm so fancy. You already know.
Finally, we celebrated Player's birthday with zerts at Sullivan's.
