The past several years UNC has held a Ladies Football Clinic to benefit the NC Children's Hospital. I was able to attend this year and all of this happened...
First things first, photo op with Coach Fedora. That piece of hair that separates from the rest of my hair is the bane of my existence. Next up, Q & A with some of the players including Marquise Williams, Romar Morris and Andrew Moore.
Probably my favorite part of this portion was someone asked Marquise what his favorite shoes were? He replied of course, Jordans and Nikes. When asked what shoes he was wearing that evening, he replied "these are Steve Maddens." Keepin' it real. Also, a middle aged white lady got up on stage and did the Whip/Nae Nae with Romar Morris, we all know how that ends.
Too bad the Steve Maddens did not make it into this photo with Quise.
Next up, Gene Chizik made me want to be a better man.
Seriously, if the defense doesn't have it together this year it's because they're deaf.
Last, but not least, I joined the #gunclub with former Tarheel, Caleb Pressley.
Check out his website, he's good times.
36 days and counting til kickoff...get excited.
ps. aim, i love you.
I don't know where all these national "fill in the blank" days came from, but I'm celebrating this one to the fullest. Happy National Creme Brulee Day!
Special thanks to Coquette for providing the goods.
I want pretty much all of the new things being added to the Lara Casey Shop.
Check out this video for a sneak peak.
I think the Life Handbook is the coolest thing. Such a great gift.
Christmas is less than 5 months away, start shopping now and thank me later.
As luck would have it we parked right next to the new 21c Museum Hotel in Durham on our Food 52 excursion. This place was amazing. If you need a hotel in Durham, this is the one. So it's a museum and hotel in one. There are several floors that flow just like a museum with contemporary art. There are so many things to see and every detail has been calculated.
I'm not exactly sure why, but I want this Walken.
G doing his best penguin impression while also wearing an Original Penguin shirt.
Last night we attended an "Instameet" hosted by Food 52 and Pure Leaf Teas at Loaf Bakery in Durham. Probably the hippest sentence I've ever typed.
I've subscribed to the Food 52 mailing list for sometime now. They have recipes, articles and an online shop and it is all around visually appealing and "foodie." So I got this email about attending this snacktime thing for free so I figured what the hey.
We watched them prep some bread at Loaf. They also provided these chocolate croissants that were to die for. I live for croissants.
Pure Leaf Tea also sponsored the event. Being raised a souther girl, I would never buy some pre made plastic bottle of tea somewhere, I would make my own. However, I gave this tea a try because I didn't want to be rude. And I think this tea would probably fool your grandmother. It's so good and perfectly sweet.
Big Spoon Roasters was also a delicious sponsor of this event. I love peanut butter. I eat it every day by the spoonfull, so I'm kind of an authority on the matter. This stuff is delicious. They make everything from scratch in Durham, NC. I loved the Chai Spice seen below and G's favorite was the Espresso. So good.
and points for stripey straws!
I was pretty sure this weekend recap would be filled with pics from the wedding we were supposed to attend, but...this happened on Friday.
That's me watching Will & Grace at G's bedside. He woke up with major stomach pain which led us to the urgent care which then led us to this room at WakeMed North waiting for him to get a CT scan. I would like to note that we did watch ESPN for quite a while before I took control of the remote. It's called compromise.
The CT showed that he should probably get transferred to main WakeMed where he would receive a surgical consult. Here he is getting strapped in to take an expensive ride on 540. I couldn't ride in the back of the ambulance so I followed behind.
After consulting with the surgeon, we decided it was time for G's appendix to be removed. He went into surgery around 8pm and came out appendix free. Which lead me back to where I started...by his bedside watching my favorite TV shows from the late 90s/early 00s.
You will be happy to know he is rapidly recovering and appreciates all your thoughts and prayers!
He handled surgery like a champ and even took a stroll around the hospital the next morning wearing these sweet socks.
