We finally got some legit powdery snow in NC today.
Snow day at home meant beginning the closet clean out. I got one side done and I'm feeling pretty good about it. Breaking up with clothes is hard to do.
Not a total Betty, but a vast improvement.
I finally got around to giving Player his Valentine's today. oops.
He was very forgiving because I gave him this sweet keychain.
Sriracha2go for the boy who has everything and likes to keep it spicy.
Here's a HuffPost about all the new things coming to Netflix in March.
I can't even tell you how excited I am about A Different World.
Whitley Gilbert. Relax, Relate, Release.
For anyone that cares, sorry I dropped off with the MasterChef Junior recaps. We kept getting behind and I was nerding out hard. Nevertheless, the finale is tonight! It's down to Andrew and Nathan. We've kind of been pulling for Andrew all along, but Nathan has really been awesome the past few weeks. He made perfect french macarons a couple weeks ago and kind of won me over. Also, he said that his family doesn't have a lot of money and he wanted to win to help them have a better life. All the tears.
Assuming we make it through the NCSU v. UNC game alive tonight, we'll be watching the finale after.
I leave you with Christina Aguilera as Britney Spears.
Maybe it was the exhaustion from watching Birdman and the Theory of Everything before the Oscar ceremony, or maybe it was the PMS, but I really found the Oscar red carpet this year to be a bit boring.
I thought everyone looked lovely, it all just seemed safe and expected.
But, that's just one woman's opinion.
Here are a few of my favorites nonetheless.
Julianne Moore in Chanel Haute Couture.
Julianne got to say, "Karl Lagerfeld made this for me." Bucket. List.
Emma Stone in Elie Saab Haute Couture. Duh.
Loved this Saint Laurent on Margot Robbie, or as we called her, the less trashy Jaime Pressly.
I did not hate this Elie Saab look on J. Lo, I just felt like it belonged on a nominee.
Sometimes I look at this and love it, sometimes I look at this and hate it.
I think I love the dress, but the hair and makeup just fell flat. It needed some drama. A bold lip could have really turned this thing around.
Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford.
I don't usually do any male picks but I've gotta give a shout out to Eddie Redmayne who has slayed every red carpet he has been on this season. Here he and his wife both look stunning in Alexander McQueen.
The peak lapel, the shoe, the navy of it all.
Bravo and congrats to Eddie Redmayne!
To quote my roommate, "I want to watch that Glory performance everyday for the rest of my life."
Pretty much sums it up.
One of my most successful pinned recipes has been the Buffalo Chicken Dip from SkinnyTaste.com
It is one of Player's favorites and has been a winner every where I've taken it.
I really like having some "skinny" apps in my repertoire so I can feel somewhat in control at things like Super Bowl parties.
This is all you need, plus chicken.
First, boil a couple of chicken breasts until cooked through, about 10 mins. Word to the wise, chicken breasts are $1.99 a pound from Harris Teeter every day if you buy them from the meat counter.
Probably their best kept secret.
Once the chicken is done remove to a bowl and savage the chicken with forks.
Next, throw everything into a sauce pan.
Chicken, blue cheese...
...sour cream and cream cheese....
...lots of hot sauce.
Stir to combine and cook on medium high heat for about 5-10 mins. Stir occasionally so it doesn't stick. It's going to thin out a bit on the stove, but no worries, it will thicken back up as it sits. The actual recipe cooks in the crockpot for 3-4 hours, but I don't have that kind of time or forethought.
I promise it's still delicious cooked on the stove.
The end result looks a little something like this.
This recipe is really to taste. If you want more hot sauce, go for it. If you want a different consistency adjust amounts of cream cheese and sour cream. Make it yours and enjoy!
I usually serve with some kind of cracker and celery.
This recipe only uses a small amount of the cream cheese. So, when having a party, plop the rest of the cream cheese on a plate and cover with pepper jelly.
Two apps for the price of one.
This was the first look at Michael Kors and I want every piece of it.
Like this combo at Nanette Lepore
Evening from Bibhu Mohapatra
I'm really into this Pam & Gela collection.
Love these looks and especially bags from Elizabeth & James
Kilim inspired at Tory Burch.
Love everything from J. Crew per usual.
I want to wrap up in this red and black check from Badgley Mischka.
Rockstar at Rodarte.
So hard to choose at Jenny Packham.
I need more Lela Rose in my closet.
Love this white number from Pedro del Hierro Madrid.
Dying at Oscar de la Renta.
